Boat Harbour Beach set to become more accessible for people with disability 

The Albanese Labor Government is investing $5,642 in a new beach wheelchair for Boat Harbour Beach, so locals and visitors with disability can enjoy improved access to the area.

In partnership with Waratah-Wynyard Council, this beach wheelchair is part of the latest round of funding under the Accessible Australia initiative, which will provide $3.8 million for 37 new inclusive amenities projects across the country.

The accessible amenities include eight inclusive beach projects, twelve fixed Changing Places facilities, five portable Changing Places facilities and twelve inclusive play spaces.

For the first time, beach wheelchairs, floating wheelchairs and beach matting are among new inclusive amenities being funded under the Albanese Government’s Accessible Australia initiative.

This latest funding reflects our government’s strong focus on inclusion for people with disability across all aspects of our society and in every community.

Funding is delivered through Federation Funding Agreement Schedules with the government working in partnership with participating states and territories.
