New facilities for staff and students at Devonport Christian School

Member for Braddon, Anne Urquhart MP, today opened the new Year 5/6 classroom block and Year 9/10 centre at Devonport Christian School which will improve student educational outcomes.

Ms Urquhart said work on the new facilities was delivered with support of the Albanese Government’s funding of $1,620,000 through the Capital Grants Program.

“A lot of work has gone into these projects which have delivered the new Year 5/6 classroom block and Year 9/10 centre which includes general and specialist learning areas, amenities, a tiered student community seating area, as well as two basketball courts and covered walkways,” Ms Urquhart said.

“These new facilities will provide school staff, teachers and students at Devonport Christian School with better, more modern spaces in which to work, teach and learn.”

“The Albanese Government is committed to providing all schools with appropriate funding so that all students, including those in Devonport Christian School, get the best possible education.”

Ms Urquhart said the new facilities would benefit the students currently at Devonport Christian School, as well as the many students to follow in the future years.

“The teachers, staff and students at Devonport Christian School have built a strong and positive school community and these new facilities will further enhance our local educational opportunities,” Ms Urquhart said.

“Our Government strongly believes in providing the best possible resources so that local students can realise their potential and develop the skills they need to go on to further study or join the workforce.”
