Dulverton - Delivering Important Regional Infrastructure for North-West Tasmania

Today’s ground-breaking ceremony for the Dulverton Organics Transformation Waste Management Project marks the delivery of an important infrastructure project by the Albanese Labor Government.

The ceremony celebrates moving to the construction phase of a world class in-vessel composting facility in North-West Tasmania.

The Australian Government provided $6 million to the construction of the $16 million project.

The project was funded under the $100 million Regional Recovery Partnerships program.

The facility will divert approximately 50,000 tonnes of organic material from landfill annually.

Attending the ceremony today, Anne Urquhart, Senator for Tasmania, said:

“This important project is moving into its construction phase and I a delighted to be here to share in this celebration.”

“When complete, it will enable a Food Organics and Garden Organics collection service to be made available to North-West Tasmanian councils comprising approximately 46,000 households.

“It’s going to be terrific for the local economy delivering $10 million in local construction and 102 positions with 4 ongoing positions post construction and 20 indirect ongoing positions within the local north-west economy.”

“This project will also support regional agribusiness and food manufacturing to meet greenhouse and sustainability targets set by themselves or their customers.”

The Dulverton project is one of four projects funded in the Tasmania region under the Regional Recovery Partnerships program.
